NAVGAS SAFETY INITIATIVE: DRIVING SAFETY FORWARD
NAVGAS as a follow-up to the successful implementation of the Emergency Shut off Valves as a critical non-negotiable safety item for LPG trucks in Nigeria, organized their Annual stakeholders safety meeting ‘DRIVING SAFETY FORWARD’ at The George Hotel, Ikoyi.
The theme of this year’s meeting was “keep it in the tank”, which was to enlighten the industry on important safety items needed to stop LPG trucks from product leakage.
The main areas highlighted were:
- Replacement of Asbestos/rubber gaskets which fit for purpose gaskets e.g. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) or Spiral gaskets;
- Servicing of ESD Valves
- Dye penetration test on all weld joints on the Feedline of all LPG trucks – minimum requirement;
- General Truck Maintenance
The event was well attended members of the NLPGA and the general consensus from the meeting was that stakeholders would need to install these safety items as soon as possible and continue working together to make the industry safer.
