NLPGA CSR PROGRAM

The Corporate Social Responsibility program of the NLPGA is geared towards reaching the masses with information about cleaner and more efficient energy- information which benefits them in many ways. Demonstrable proof of these benefits may at least persuade more people to adopt LPG as a fuel of choice, instead of more traditional options like firewood and kerosene.

The CSR initiative of the NLPGA brings the clean energy campaign to people's doorsteps and gives them the opportunity to see for themselves what improvements to fuel efficiency, health, and the environment are possible with the use of LPG. The intended scope of the program is national, and the drive to extend its reach has already begun. It is believed that this new direction taken by the association will help bring the good news of efficient energy to a previously unreached audience.

As part of its CSR program, the NLPGA has been working with the Lagos State Government to distribute free gas cylinders to communities under the 'Eko Gas Initiative'. The State Government has recognised LPG as a clean source of energy and has made efforts to promote its use in the state. Doing this in conjunction with the NLPGA has given its gas initiative a boost as it seeks to provide low-income households and rural dwellers with affordable and portable LPG stove cylinders.

Firewood to Gas conversion is also a CSR program of the NLPGA; there are plans underway to expand this to secondary schools nationwide, kicking off with three (3) secondary schools in Ogun State in conjunction with the State Government. Already, this ‘Firewood to Gas’ conversion CSR program has already been successfully implemented by the NLPGA in an orphage at the Ajegunle area of Lagos State. Other outlined states to benefit from this program in the immediate future are Edo, Anambra, Kwara, as well as IDP camps.

Making a cleaner and healthier alternative for meeting domestic energy needs available is a noble task, and the NLPGA is leading the way by showing through its CSR program that this can be done.
