The Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA) organised training and certification programs for LPG truck drivers, plant operators and supervisors nationwide. Truck drivers were trained on the handling and transportation of LPG; whilst the other program for plant operators and supervisors addressed issues pertaining to safety in those aspects of the LPG industry. This training was sanctioned by the Department of Petroleum Resources.

The ultimate aim of these training exercises is to ensure that workers in the LPG industry are more safety conscious. The training equipped workers with the knowledge they needed in order to avoid hazards which may arise due to the nature of the work they do. Stakeholders benefited from the insightful information provided during the training programs, as the attainment of high safety standards makes it less likely that they would incur losses from industrial accidents and disasters.
